The Important Dinners for Women have become annual fixtures in the New York and Davos. The dinners, which were first hosted in 2008 by Indra Nooyi, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan and Wendi Murdoch, have grown to include a network of over 600 women from all over the world.
These dinners aim to ensure that the pressure is kept on world leaders to fulfil their promises to deliver global commitments for women through the Millennium and Sustainable Development Goals.
These dinners have been addressed by Melinda Gates, Graça Machel and Sarah Brown. The campaigns have involved securing ads in print around the world, a media campaign around Mother’s Day and promises from Governments to increase funding in this area.
