In 2018, the Johnnie Walker team has been transported to the dystopian future as a partner of cult immersive theatre experience, Secret Cinema, whose latest production is based on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi classic Blade Runner. Johnnie Walker Black Label featured in the original Blade Runner film as a whisky that the filmmakers believed would stand the test of time and be enjoyed long into the future.
Over three nights, freuds hosted a range of lifestyle influencers at a pre experience Cocktail Masterclass at top Whisky bar, Black Rock to immerse them into the world of Johnnie Walker. Johnnie Walker ambassador and Diageo World Class winner, Ali Reynolds, introduced the guests to the heritage of the brand whilst they enjoyed a flight of futuristic Johnnie Walker cocktails, inspired by the film.
Our influencers were given new identities and whisked off to Secret Cinema where a new world was awaiting for them to begin the experience at a top Secret Location (…Canning Town). The influencers captured content within the JW branded arrivals area before entering into the off world. With phones and social media banned during the experience, our influencers locked away their phones in order to prepare for the night’s activities in the future world of downtown LA. They were faced with torrential toxic rain falls, bustling neon Chinatown, a toast to ‘Detective Johnnie Walker’ and a VIP screening of the film.
