The Role

We are seeking an Associate – SAE to join our New York City team (working a minimum of 3 days in the office and 2 days wfh) to work across retail, FMCG, and professional services clients. You will be a well-informed, news-savvy AE looking to step up or an SAE open to a lateral move into a larger environment. We want a proactive individual who is eager to engage with our clients’ work and bring fresh perspectives to our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confidently and concisely present progress reports, project updates, and new ideas to junior clients either face-to-face, by phone, or by email. 
  • Regularly write self-developed documents, such as press releases, reports, and statements, showcasing your attention to detail and skills in producing written materials for both media and clients with minimal corrections from your line manager. 
  • Demonstrate the ability to write well-structured, persuasive copy in various styles, including news releases, internal newsletters, and online content. 
  • Support with researching relevant talent for brand campaigns, develop talent briefing documents, and attend briefings. 
  • Provide reactive comments in response to media inquiries following guidance from line managers.
  • Confidently manage relationships with journalists, both reactively and proactively, and take responsibility for these connections. 
  • Consistently pitch stories to national and trade media. 
  • Assist in creating data-driven, client-facing media coverage reports, demonstrating proficient use of Microsoft Excel and social listening tools.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Previous experience communicating within an agency or in-house press team
  • A strong understanding of how to gather and interpret data
  • Confidence in presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to respond to tasks quickly and efficiently
  • Experience handling media inquiries and sell-ins
  • A solid understanding of the daily news agenda and the ability to discuss and comment on it with colleagues
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • A good understanding of influencers and social media
