Design & Identity - Associate Director (SAD)

Freuds creates compelling designs for brands, businesses, public sector institutions, NGOs, products, and campaigns. We focus on building not just beautiful imagery but emotional architecture - Ideas & Identity. We specialise in branding and rebranding, editorial design, digital and motion, website design, art direction, naming and copywriting and merchandise.
The Role
We are seeking a talented Associate Director to work in our in-house design + identity team. Our integrated team supports clients across the agency producing content for leading global campaigns.
The Associate Director - Design, will support the Executive Art Director by ensuring that our creative work is of the highest possible standard. The role will also involve communicating our offering in new ways to existing and new clients, to help expand the business. The role will involve identifying and nurturing the skillsets of the team to get to the best product. All this will help the Executive Art Director promote and shape our design and content offering and help build our external client base.
The role requires strong client servicing and project management experience and an individual that understands the design led process.
The ideal candidate will have prior management experience, is independent and self-guided, with experience leading workshops and presenting ideas.
This candidate is a natural with clients and speaks convincingly about every project to different stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
Type of projects that the DAD run:
- Proposal writing, pitching and sales-related project activities
- Managing design projects for clients
- Internal marketing projects: design strategy, development of unique products that can improve the agency’s design output
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Knowledge, skills and attributes
- Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) - how to set expectations with clients, how to sell concepts to clients or potential clients, how to work with colleagues, ask the right questions, explain what you’re capable of, and talk about design decisions clearly and persuasively to non-designers
- Strong knowledge of design processes, design management and project management
- Exceptional knowledge and proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ideally, you have knowledge/understanding of Figma and experience working with WordPress and other Content Management Systems
