Media Advisor - Associate Director
The Team
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced communications professional with a unique blend of newsroom and PR agency expertise. This role provides an opportunity for someone who has built their career in national journalism and later sharpened their expertise in a PR agency providing corporate comms support that includes copywriting.
You will also serve as a trusted advisor to senior clients, offering high‑impact, strategic media and corporate counsel. This is a hands‑on role, partnering closely with senior leaders, where your guidance will play a pivotal role in driving client outcomes and growth
Key Responsibilities
- Provide media advice to clients across the business
- Take a lead role in the copy that is developed within the business, including opeds and speeches
- Act as a trusted advisor on sensitive issues and high-stakes situations
- Provide senior exec strategic counsel on reactive & proactive comms strategy (including but not limited to media)
- Build strong relationships with media contacts and manage press engagement.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- National newsroom experience: You’ve worked as a journalist for a major outlet and understand how stories are shaped and told.
- PR agency background: You know how to craft narratives, manage clients, and navigate complex reputational challenges.
- Exceptional writing in particular speechwriting and storytelling skills with a sharp news sense
- Calm under pressure, with proven experience in guiding global clients through commercially sensitive media moments
- A natural coach and communicator who can inspire confidence and capability in others.
